Peanut’s all snuggled up in bed just waiting for Spring. This picture was taken on November 11, 2009. It wasn’t THAT cold out, but our dogs love to stay warm. When I see him peeking out from under the covers, he reminds me of a little bear in hibernation. You better not wake him ‘til it warms up!

This layout was created on February 20th for Stuff to Scrap’s February 2010 Progressive Scrap Challenge. It was sort of like a speed scrap, but in slow motion. We had to blog hop to find instructions, only one given each day. It was a lot of fun! I can’t wait for the next!

Progressive Scrap Instructions:
» Select 1 picture and 3 papers. Set them aside.
» Pick a Frame for your Pictures and cut one of your paper into strips to use as you want. You must use them though!
» Place one paper as your background then layer the other one over it with part of the background showing. Attach your strips with stitches or other fasteners.
»Place your photo and frame on top of the paper strip. I want the frame or the photo to be connected to the layout using one of the fasteners already on the layout. (So the same fastener you added yesterday should be holding down the paper strip AND the framed photo.)
» Choose 5-8 elements (anything works). Place 3-4 in a cluster in one corner, with at least 2 UNDER the top paper. Place the other elements in a cluster under/on top of the frame/mat.
» Add a 3 word title to your layout. The title can consist of an alpha or a font or a combination of both. You may also add a date & journaling somewhere on your layout if you wish.
» As the last step, this should hopefully wrap your page up nicely! To do that, let’s add a little layering. Take at least one (more if you’d like) more paper. Cut it into at least two shapes (circle, square, heart, star, etc…..). They can be any shape, any size….they can even be different shapes if you’d like. Now, place your paper shapes underneath your framed photo and paper strips.

It just isn’t Christmas without Dad… it’s Almost Christmas. He had been gone for almost four months when these pictures were taken, and everyone was putting on a brave face. The kids managed to have a good time when the presents came out, but it was still a sad, lonely Christmas. My aunt and uncle decorated a tree with orange and white… the colors of his favorite college football team (UT Vols). It’s a Christmas I’ll never forget.

These pictures were take Christmas Eve 2008. Layout created on February 16, 2010 for Stuff to Scrap’s Feb. 16th speed scrap (my first time). We had very little time to complete the instructions given to us, and now that I look back at my layout I can see a few things I would like to change. The left and right pictures could be shifted away from the green frame a bit, and I would like to change the title. But when all is said and done, I think it is a nice layout. Thanks for hosting the speed scrap Nikki! I had a great time!

Speed Scrap Instructions
» Pick out 3 pictures all from the same event.
» Pick out 2 papers, 1 solid 1 pattern.
» Put your pattern down as your background, and with your solid, give it a decorative edge (scallop, etc.) and put it on top of your pattern background so the pattern paper can still be seen.
» Arrange your 3 pictures in a row, anywhere on your page.
» Frame 1 picture with any shape other than what the picture shape is. So, if you picture is rectangle, you can’t use a rectangular frame, but maybe a square or circle, etc. Staple it down.
» Pick any 1 embellishment, 1 ribbon or ricrac, and 1 button. Put the 1 embellishment on the framed picture. Put your button on your ricrac, and put that anywhere on your page.
» Give your layout a title and journal like crazy about the picture. Don’t forget to date it and add those drop shadows.

In the past couple of weeks, I have joined some WONDERFUL digital scrapbooking forums. I’m inspired to create a new layout every time I sign in. These ladies are fantastic! I look forward to meeting all of them, and hopefully some of their talent will rub off on me.

These pictures (my brother, his girlfriend, and their two kids) were taken on Christmas Eve 2006. The layout was created on February 13, 2010 for Stuff to Scrap’s February Color Challenge. We were given several colors to use in our layouts, and we received a certain amount of points based on how many colors we used. I used mini kits that were created by other forum members specifically for this challenge.

Sweet dreams, Miss Ashlee! My baby cousin Ashlee was born December 19, 2009. She is the cutest thing! This layout was created yesterday for the Scrapbook Bytes Number in Bytes Challenge. This challenge is sometimes called a recipe challenge. We were given a list of items that we had to include in our layouts. No more, no less.

This challenge called for:
» 4 photos
» 1 solid paper
» 2 patterned papers
» 6 flowers
» 1 lace
» 1 bow
» 1 frame
» 1 date tag
» 5 elements that we could choose
» title and journaling was optional

I adore this layout! Although I’m still searching for the perfect dropshadow settings, I think this layout is super cute. Pink and brown. Two of my favorite colors.

Yes, it’s true… I love Photoshop and creating graphics for sites and email signatures, but scrapbooking? Oh my! It’s great! There’s something about personal images and memories mixed with the digital creativity of Photoshop that intrigues me. I’ve jumped head first into this new “craft,” and I hope it will be an exciting adventure.

My first scrapbook page. My nephew Ethan (age 6, right) and little brother Danny (age 4, left) getting dressed for an exciting day of sledding. We don’t get a lot of snow in Middle Tennessee, so days like this are extra special.

Since I enjoy using Photoshop, I created my own frame and journaling paper using papers and elements from the kit. I kind of like the way this one came out, but I’m still learning. I’m sure my scrapbooking skills will improve with time.

My second page. (Both were created just a few days ago.) Once again, I created the frames using papers and other elements in the kit. I’m not sure if I like this one, but I’m finished with it… for now.

These pictures were taken on the same day as the photo on my first page. From top to bottom: Danny, Ethan, Desiree (niece), Ethan, Little Jody (2nd cousin). We actually got some snow in our neck of the woods (several inches, and it lasted for more than a few hours!), so we all suited up for a day (more like an hour) of sledding. It was so much fun, and the kids enjoyed themselves immensely. Our first big snow since 2003. Or was it 2004? Eh… it’s been such a long time… I can’t remember.

I look forward to creating more pages, printing, and sharing with friends and family. If you know of any good scrapbooking sites or have any advice, let me know!
